Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Throughout these 40 days, we will follow Jesus to His death, moving beyond the cross to the resurrection of Jesus.

On Ash Wednesday, [February 17], one may choose from two Ash Wednesday Services to attend 5:00 and 6:30 PM. The 5:00 PM service is in-person; at 6:30 PM, one may view online or attend in-person. [Our Wednesday night ministries, (children and youth), will resume February 24.] Included in the Ash Wednesday services are opportunities to interact; (Responsive Readings), reflect (on the words of Joel), and receive the Imposition of Ashes.

To receive the sign of the cross (ashes), walk up the center aisle to the middle of the altar, wear your MASK, [Masks are Required] SOCIAL DISTANCE, [two pews between individuals], to receive the Imposition of Ashes. Most importantly, prepare your hearts in prayer as we take our first steps into the Season of Lent.

During Lent, you are invited to read, Walk Humbly, a daily devotional provided by The Society of St. Andrew. We will join The Society of St. Andrew in the fight against physical and spiritual hunger. Unfortunately, physical hunger is on the rise in our country; currently, 54 million Americans do not always know when or where they will get their next meal. That means 1 in 6 Americans will seek food assistance every week this winter! Together, we’ll RISE to meet the needs of the hungry.

Walk Humbly is available for pickup at the Church, by download, [see attachment], or by daily email, [https://endhunger.org/lent#email]. There are collection boxes for children and youth, and also offering envelopes for the Church. In our Lent journey, we have the opportunity “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” [Micah 6:8B].

Rest UP! We are off on a walk of a lifetime!
