Church,

A few years back, my brother David had wooden Churches constructed for his members. Holding up one of the Churches, David said to his congregation, “The Church is in Your Hands.”

I echo his words. “The Church is in Your Hands.” How will you engage in the life of the Church? When we engage, we invest in the Church, others, and our life. When we engage, we grow in the life of Jesus Christ. What would the Church look like if every member were just like you?

I was pleasantly surprised Sunday when Suzane donated beautifully painted prayer cards. I have no doubt her gift will brighten the day of many. Thank YOU.

UMMen: Tom Anaston will speak to the UMMen on Thursday, July 6, at 6 p.m. Tom is a U.S. Navy Veteran, and he is eager to share about the blimp from his experiences in the U.S. Navy. Coming up on September 8, the UMMen have planned a Men’s Night Out. The UMMen continue to sell RADA cutlery. Visit FirstChurchMilton.org to order.

Student Ministries (6 – 12 grades): This past Friday, [June 23], twelve youth met to prepare a meal and play games in their first summer event. We appreciate the talents of Janelle, our Youth Director. Don’t miss out. The youth meet on Sundays at 9:45, with Janelle providing a study with two summer events remaining. [Beach Trip – July 9, Scavenger Hunt – August 5]

SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING: To serve children or youth, one must complete SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING and a BACKGROUND CHECK. One can begin this process by visiting: firstchurchmilton.org. On Sunday, July 3, our message is entitled: Freedom! based on Galatians 5:1. We invite you to wear Red, White, and Blue as we celebrate our independence. Our greeter for Sunday, July 3, is Lisa Warren  at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Bill and Rosie Tinsley (8:30) and Rob and Karen Young (11) are our ushers. And our acolyte for 11 a.m. is Caylin Beckman.

As an act of worship, the Church will receive tithes and offerings through several avenues:

  • Worship [8:30 or 11 a.m.]
  • Online [firstchurchmilton.org]
  • Mailing to the Church Office [6819 Berryhill Street]
  • Drop off at the Penfield Center (Church Office, 6819 Berryhill Street)

Fresh Baked Muffins: Many were saddened when the Milton Bakery temporarily closed. To the rescue came Glennis, who provides the most wonderful muffins in our coffee and fellowship. (9:30 a.m.) Word is apple muffins will be on hand Sunday. May I ask, do you enjoy your coffee? Be sure to say thanks to Paul.

Finance: On Wednesday, June 28, 2022, the Finance Committee emailed an informative letter concerning the finances of the Church. I appreciate the efforts of the finance committee and their work to keep the Church informed. The Finance Committee letter is also attached to this email for you to share. [One may print or email for others.]

The Domino Effect (Colossians Study) books will be available Sunday. In addition to the book, one will need a notebook, pen, or pencil for note-taking. Plus, a highlighter for a quick reference in your book. Daily readings start Monday, July 4. As you read, take notes and highlight. Sessions are from 9:45 to 10:30/35. Daily homework will only impact your experience in The Domino Effect.

Church, I invite you to engage yourself in Jesus Christ, the Church, family, and friends. Seek out ways to commit to being the feet, hands, and voice of Jesus Christ.

Love All, Serve All,

Steve Warren, Pastor
